About ORIGIN

Built by operators and data obsessives, for the grocery aisle.

4 co-founders, 4 different angles on the same problem: grocery operators have been stitching together five tools to answer one question. We built the platform we always wished existed.

Who we are

Five things you should know about ORIGIN.

  1. 01

    Grocery-first

We started with the grocer's data model, banner, store, channel, SKU, pricing zone, and worked outward. Nothing was adapted from SaaS.

  2. 02

    4 co-founders

Operators, engineers, and product leaders. Every angle of the grocery data problem is represented in our founding team.

  3. 03

    HGG anchor partner

Heritage Grocers Group, 116 stores across 4 banners, is our founding design partner. Real data, real problems, real solutions.

  4. 04

    ~47s POS to dashboard

Sub-minute refresh, every banner, all channels. Your Monday 8 AM standup starts on agreement, not reconciliation.

  5. 05

    Built in 2025

We built what we always wished existed. ORIGIN launched with its first anchor partner in 2025 and ships new capabilities every week.

Why we build it

A grocer should not have to reconcile six exports to find out how Saturday went.

Mission

Give multi-banner grocers one governed number per question. Every channel, every store, tied to a control total, with the lineage in the box rather than sold as a second product.

Vision

The Monday operating review starts on agreement. No one opens a marketplace portal to check the number, and nobody presents a figure that closed a week ago.

Operators on ORIGIN

Trusted by the operators who run real stores.

Origin AI

A question box, not a chat gimmick.

Monday, 8 AM. The merchandising lead does not want a dashboard tour. They want to know where the week moved and why. So they type it.

Origin AI in the Master Portal reads the same governed dataset the pages read. It answers from the loaded book, returns the chart the answer came from, and can set the filter bar to match. If the data cannot support the number, it says so instead of writing one.

Master Portal, Origin AI

Where did we grow most WoW?

Back comes the banner, the channel and the week that moved, with the trend it was read off and a filter bar already set to that cut.

Also on open

  • Top 3 banners by sales
  • Focus on Cárdenas, Instacart, YTD
  • Open the operations page

That is the portal assistant, behind the login. The Origin AI tab on this page is the public one: it answers questions about ORIGIN and books you a walkthrough. It holds no customer data.

Our sector

Built for grocery, not adapted to it.

Most BI tools were built for SaaS companies and bent to fit retail. We started with the grocer's data model and worked outward.

Gap 01

Multi-banner schema drift

Most grocers run 3 to 14 banners that drift apart over time. Each banner's POS exports slightly different fields. ORIGIN normalizes them on connect, so one executive view actually means the same thing across stores.

Gap 02

Marketplace data is invisible

Instacart, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Shipt each give you a different portal, a different file format, and a different basket definition. We pull, reconcile, and unify them, so net revenue means net revenue.

Gap 03

Quarter-close eats weeks

Manual reconciliation across banners, channels, and pricing zones swallows 30+ engineering hours every week. ORIGIN replaces that with sub-minute, auditable pipelines that finance teams trust.

Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer

Joshua Saenz

CMO

Joshua co-founded ORIGIN around a question he couldn't stop asking: why are so many grocers still struggling with the same operational inefficiencies when the technology to solve them exists? That work became ORIGIN, an operations-first BI platform that cuts friction, sharpens decisions, and gets grocery teams closer to the business they're trying to run.

What we hold

Three things we won't compromise.

Data integrity first
Every record that passes through ORIGIN is validated, normalized, and auditable. Lineage is in the box, not a separate product.
Enterprise empathy
We've seen the problems from the operator's chair. Our solutions are built for the messy realities of large-scale grocery operations, not textbook scenarios.
Continuous innovation
BI is a living program, not a project. We ship on a real cadence so the platform in front of you is never left behind the market.

Work with us.

We're hiring across data engineering, design, and grocery operations. We also take a small number of design partners each quarter.
